Trades contractors have unique money problems.

A generalist bookkeeper doesn't know how a field operation actually makes money. I do.

📋
"I have no idea if my jobs are actually profitable."
Revenue is coming in but you can't tell which jobs made money and which ate your margin. You need job costing set up by someone who knows how trades businesses run.
🏦
"My CPA charges a fortune every January."
When your CPA spends hours cleaning up a year of transactions, you're paying their rate to do bookkeeping — not tax strategy. Clean monthly books fix this.
🏠
"My books are months behind and I dread looking at them."
Behind on your books means flying blind on bids, payroll, and taxes. We get you current fast — then keep you there every single month.
👷
"Every January I'm scrambling for 1099s."
1099s are due January 31st. We track subcontractor payments all year so January is a button-click, not a crisis.
💳
"I run my business off my bank balance."
Your bank balance doesn’t show unpaid subs, outstanding receivables, or tax liability building up. You need a real P&L — delivered monthly, every month.
⛈️
"Busy season wrecks my books every year."
Volume spikes, new subs, projects stacking up — most bookkeepers fall behind. Whether it's storm season, summer landscaping, or a hot construction market, I keep up.
Why Thomas Ledger Group

I built Thomas Ledger Group because trades contractors deserve better.

My family owns a contracting company. I’m the CFO and bookkeeper. So I don’t just understand the trades from the outside — I live inside it every single month. The subs, the crews, the jobs that ran over, the months where the bank balance looks fine but the real numbers don’t add up. I’ve been there.

I’ve watched a contractor walk off a job thinking they made money — and had to show them the real number. I know what that conversation feels like. Job costing isn’t optional in this business. It’s the difference between growing with confidence and just staying busy without knowing why your account never seems to grow.

That’s why I built Thomas Ledger Group. Because when I looked at what was available to trades contractors — generalist bookkeepers who didn’t know the difference between a crew cost and an overhead expense — I knew there had to be something better. So I built the system I wished existed for my own family’s company, and I made it available to yours.

When you hire Thomas Ledger Group, I treat your business the same way I treat my own family’s. Same urgency. Same attention. Same expectation that nothing slips through the cracks — because in this industry, it’s too costly when it does.

Your first 30 days with Thomas Ledger Group.

No guessing. No waiting around. Here's exactly what happens from the moment you sign on.

Day
1–3
Onboarding & Access

Your one-time onboarding fee is invoiced and due on signing. Once paid, you'll get a short onboarding form to complete — business details, QBO access, and a list of your subs. That's it on your end. I take it from there and start reviewing the state of your books immediately. No back-and-forth. No waiting a week to get started.

Day
4–10
Books Review & Cleanup

I audit your existing QBO file — categorization, reconciliation, chart of accounts, job setup. If anything is off, I fix it before moving forward. You'll get a plain-English summary of what I found and what I corrected. No surprises, no judgement — most new clients have something to clean up.

Day
11–20
Systems Built Around Your Business

I set up your trades-specific chart of accounts, job costing structure, and subcontractor tracking — built around how your company actually runs. Whether you're in roofing, GC work, electrical, HVAC, or landscaping, the setup reflects your service lines, your crew structure, and your way of working. Not a generic template. This is the infrastructure that makes everything else possible.

Day
21–30
Your First Clean Deliverable

By the end of your first month, you receive your first complete financial package — P&L, balance sheet, bank reconciliation, and job cost summary. Delivered clean. Delivered on time. This is what every month looks like from here on out. You'll finally know exactly where your business stands.

Is there a setup fee to get started? +
Yes — a one-time onboarding fee applies to all new clients.
Setting up your QBO file correctly takes real work — chart of accounts, bank rules, categorization structure, and opening balances. The fee ranges from $300–$500 depending on your tier and starting point, billed once on signing. Every month after that is just your flat monthly rate.
What trades do you work with? +
If you run a field crew and pull permits, we're your bookkeeper.
Roofing, general contractors, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, and related trades. We also accept cleanup referrals from CPAs and EAs for any business type — no ongoing commitment required.
What if my books are a mess right now? +
No judgment — we've seen it all.
That's what catch-up bookkeeping is for.
I get you current before starting your monthly retainer. Clean slate, fresh start.
Do I need QuickBooks Online? +
Yes — we work exclusively in QBO.
If you're on Desktop or spreadsheets, I handle the migration as part of onboarding.
No extra hassle on your end.
Are there long-term contracts? +
No contracts. Month-to-month on all plans.
I keep your business by doing great work, not by locking you in.
What's included in the monthly deliverable? +
Every client gets four things by the 10th:
Monthly P&L, balance sheet, bank reconciliation, and a job cost summary.
Growth and Scale plans include additional reporting on top of this.
How fast do you respond? +
One business day maximum. Usually same day.
You'll always know who you're dealing with and how to reach them.
No ticketing systems. No outsourced support.
